Celebrate Music and Tattoos at the OC Fair with Musink

"Live music, sex appeal, and appreciation for fine art and tattoo culture will take over the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, CA Friday, March 2nd through Sunday, March 4th as Musink celebrates their fifth annual Musink Festival. If you take great pride in the ink you display and your i-pod contains countless punk rock songs, you will want to attend Musink 2012. Between the bands such as New Found Glory and Alkaline Trio and artists like Derek Hess and Jack Rudy this year’s Musink Festival will likely resemble a tattoo in that you will be left with a lasting impression.
New Found Glory and Alkaline Trio in addition to Tiger Army headline the music lineup for Musink 2012. Tiger Army will embrace the spotlight at the OC Fair & Event Center Friday, March 2nd while New Found Glory steps into the limelight Saturday, March 3rd and Alkaline Trio ends this year’s Musink festivities Sunday, March 4th. California’s own punk rockers Tiger Army prove a perfect fit for the fifth annual Musink Festival. Appropriately enough the group played the first ever Musink Festival back in 2008. Additionally many Tiger Army fans sport tattoos showing their support for the band.
Likewise, New Found Glory followers sport tattoos illustrating their NFG fandom. In fact New Found Glory’s website contains a whole section titled “NFG INK” featuring New Found Glory related tattoos. Think about how much enthusiasm a fan must have to get a symbol representing a given group imprinted on his skin. Such enthusiasm should make for an electric atmosphere Saturday, March 3rd at Costa Mesa’s OC Fair & Event Center when New Found Glory takes center stage.
You can safely bet Sunday, March 4th Alkaline Trio and their fans will do their best to standout too. Really, in essence the amount of passion which everyone exudes at Musink makes the festival special. Perhaps Death By Stereo’s front man Efrem Shulz said it best back in 2010 when he spent the day interviewing Musink Festival attendees for Affliction and described the third annual festival as possessing “instant energy.” If you read our own Melissa Garcia’s Musink review from last year you know “instant energy” could also describe 2011 Musink. And from what we already discussed here, there is no reason to expect anything different with the fifth annual music and tattoo festival.
The sex appeal mentioned in this preview’s opening sentence takes form in the Miss Musink contest. Inked goddesses compete in preliminary beauty contests up until March. Friday, March 2nd 15 finalists will compete for the Miss Musink crown. The first preliminary round took place Tuesday, January 31st at The Continental Room (located on W. Santa Fe Avenue). The next two will take place Tuesday, February 21st and Tuesday, February 28th at the same location.
